About Nala
Nala has been in her foster home for 6 months and has come on leaps and bounds in lots of ways.
Experienced dog owners are paramount as she's a complex girl. Nala needs time, patience, love, and a new family who won't be put off by the issues that Nala needs help working through.
Nala is 3 years old, super loving, has lots of energy, and is very playful. She loves a snuggle on your knee, bum scratches, and being fussed. She's desperate for love and to be the centre of someone's universe. She is fully house trained and knows some basic obedience. She is a fantastic little dog.
Her new home needs to be a quiet and calm environment with not many visitors as she does struggle with meeting strangers. She will settle down, and chicken works wonders to get her attention. A busy household will cause a lot of stress with too much going on, which heightens her anxieties around going out and the world around her.
We feel a home with 1-2 people that are around a lot of the day would be ideal for Nala. An adult only home is preferred unless older teenagers or grown-up children live in the home who understand dogs well.
After a lot of deliberation, we have decided Nala needs a pet free home to truly settle as she does find it hard to settle and be calm around a resident dog. She has the tendency to get jealous if another dog is around her if she is with one of her humans.
In Nala's foster home, she visits a private secure field daily for walks off lead and thrives in this calm and quiet environment. Nala's struggles with walks on the leads on streets or local parks where there is a lot going on. She finds it incredibly stressful seeing dogs out on a lead and will bark and struggles to focus on anything.
Nala is currently following a training plan, and things are slowly improving, but this could take months or longer to get Nala more settled and calm out in the world. Any new family wishing to adopt Nala will need to carry on with her training to help Nala be the happiest and calmest dog she can be.
We will only be taking adoption applications for Nala in the Southport and very near surrounding areas. Nala will need regular visits to meet a new family and have a slow transition over. Nala is very attached to her foster family, and this will also be a big thing for her to overcome after 6 months.
