National Pet Day - Adara
ADARA the Great! I was so lucky that I could travel to Romania last week and meet this gorgeous girl for the first time. She really is such a special dog. I think the photos and videos speak for themselves, but let me give you some factual information about this wonderful dog.
She was found as a stray in a field originally with her 7 puppies 5 of which survived and sadly 2 dies of parvovirus, a common killer of puppies abroad. She was fortunate to stumble across the management team in Romania, who of course opened the doors of Romanian Rescue Appeal’s shelter to her immediately. The biggest hope was that they could find her a home, with help from the volunteers working tirelessly in the U.K. Unfortunately there are such a large number of rescued dogs at the shelter that she may not yet have an album and the public might now be seeing her for the first time.
Adara is approximately 5 or 6 years of age. She has been in the shelter for 5 months. The shelter is filled with love and simply the best care, but a shelter is at the end of the day a shelter and should only ever be a temporary answer, to keep a dog safe whilst searching for a family. This however is no easy task as not everyone can see the potential of a dog in a photo or a video and not everyone wants a medium size dog and not everyone wants to home a dog without a meet up and that is where Penny’s Ark hope to eventually come in to this. Dogs like Adara can come over to the U.K. and have far greater chances of finding a home.
When I mentioned a shelter should only be a temporary solution, that would be in an ideal world where rescue has no borders and U.K. rescue centre would open their doors to these dogs . Sadly there are many dogs like Adara who are simply perfect but they just keep waiting and the rescue keeps hoping for the day the dog steps onto the rescue bus to their home. The reality for Adara is she lives in a kennel and with 350 other dogs to care for there is no way that Adara can leave the kennel daily or weekly. She was absolutely desperate to leave the kennel and go for a walk and a tummy rub and that is what we did for her last week. Upon seeing us she scaled the fence to try to get to us, so you can imagine her delight when it was her turn. I don’t think I have ever seen a more happy dog.
We need to let Adara join the National Pet Day brigade next year and for that she needs to be living in a home in the U.K. We can then celebrate her life and her future. That is where you come in. You can use the email address to contact RRA directly to ask about Adara at the RRC shelter in Tecuci. They will be delighted to hear from you. You will find the process straight forward and never will you regret homing this gorgeous dog. She is fully vaccinated about the legal requirements, microchipped, neutered and she will already be able to walk on a lead. She’s waiting for you, so now its your move - admin@rrauk.com
