A Gentle Soul Seeking Comfort
Meet Mabel, a beautiful 4-year-old Romanian rescue currently blossoming in foster care in Hampshire. Since arriving in the UK in November 2025, Mabel has come a long way from her difficult start on the streets.
While she can be shy and timid initially, beneath that hesitation lies an incredibly sweet, sensitive nature waiting to be loved. She is the definition of a "gentle soul" who is eagerly looking for her forever family..
Building Confidence Outdoors
Mabel is slowly learning that the outside world isn't as scary as it seems, though she still requires a patient handler to help her navigate it.
She walks nicely on a lead without pulling, though she tends to "zig-zag" a bit as she explores. Because she can be a flight risk when spooked—specifically by bicycles, pushchairs, or scooters—she must wear a securely fitted 3-point harness at all times outdoors for her safety..
She copes fine with light traffic and trains but remains wary of strangers when out and about, preferring the security of her handler.
Car travel is another area where she is brave but hesitant; she may be reluctant to get into the vehicle initially (a common trait for Romanian rescues), but once settled, she travels well.
The Perfect House Guest
Living with Mabel is a joy because she has adapted wonderfully to domestic life. She is completely house-trained and boasts an impeccable nighttime routine; after a final toilet break around 10:00 PM, she sleeps soundly through the night in the lounge with other dogs until 7:00 AM. She is already accustomed to the hustle and bustle of a modern home, remaining unbothered by household noises like washing machines, vacuums, and the TV.
Socially, Mabel is a star. She is gentle and tolerant with children and plays happily with other dogs, making her a fantastic potential addition to a family pack (though she has not yet been cat-tested). Her biggest asset for ongoing training is her appetite—she is extremely food-driven and eager to please! She responds best to positive reinforcement and plenty of praise, needing a gentle hand to help her master basic commands. She is in excellent health, spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated.
