The Whale Eye
Not a signal to ignore:
Did you know that when a dog becomes worried their eye shape changes? The first change is usually that the whites of their eyes show more. This is called the whale eye or the half moon eye. Its a warning sign that can be missed to the untrained eye. Other canines will not miss it though.
If you see the whale eye then your job is to diffuse the worrying situation for the dog. It might be a sign around food or an object or person. It might be an indicator to give the dog space. Whatever the reason it is clear that something is worrying the dog.
Communication is a two way thing. Understanding your dog means tuning in to his mood, picking up on the cues and responding to what he is telling you. This is all part of relationship building and will go a long way in creating your harmonious lives together.
